About the Virgin Islands Lottery
Established in 1937, the Virgin Islands Lottery (also known as the VIL) is the oldest continuous lottery in the U.S. The VI Lottery is a vital contributor to the local economy, generating an average of $17 million a year. Revenues from the lottery are put back into the treasury of the territory, which then supports veteran affairs, public education, retirement funds, and more. The VIL has also created a Community Outreach Program which earmarks $300,000 annually for local nonprofits.
