About the Kansas Lottery

The Kansas Lottery is one of the proud founding members of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). The Kansas Lottery was passed by vote on November 11, 1986, and in September of 1987, joined five other states to create the MUSL. Lottery tickets went on sale one year later, generating more than $7 million in sales within just the first week. To date, over $1.8 billion in revenue has been generated by the Kansas Lottery. This money supports veterans within the state, as well as various funds such as the Problem Gambling and Addictions Grant Fund, the Economic Development Initiatives Fund, the Correctional Institutions Building Fund, the Juvenile Detention Facilities Fund, and the State General Fund.
