How long does it take to receive CA Lottery winnings?

Players using the Lottery.com platform can instantly claim prizes of less than $600 to their player account and request a cashout to their bank account. ACH transfers to a bank account typically take two business days.

For non-Lottery.com players, the timeline is a bit different. According to the California Lottery, it will take six to eight weeks to receive your CA Lottery winnings check in the mail after it has been processed at Lottery Headquarters in Sacramento, California.

How much will I pay in taxes if I win the CA lottery?

There are no California state or local taxes on winnings but the California Lottery is required to withhold 24% on prizes over $600 to pay federal taxes.

Can I remain anonymous if I win the lottery in California?

California does not allow lottery winners to remain anonymous. Currently, seven states allow lottery winners to remain anonymous: Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Texas, Ohio, and South Carolina. Six states also allow lottery winners to form a trust to claim the prize money anonymously.
