About the Washington Lottery

Only July 16, 1982, legislation to establish the Washington state lottery was signed into law by then-governor, John Spellman. The WA Lottery was created to provide revenue for the State General Fund which supports public schools, human services programs, natural resources, and government programs.

In Fiscal Year 2017, the WA Lottery paid out over $422.05 million in prizes to winning lottery players. Over $126 million in lottery profits were contributed to the WOPA Education program and $33.9 million in commissions was paid out to retailers.

Currently, the Washington Lottery offers the following draw games for play: Lotto, Hit 5, Daily Keno, Daily Game, Match 4, Mega Millions, and Powerball.
