Westchester resident Alvaro Ortega scratched an Illinois Lottery Bingo ticket and instantly won $200,000. “I feel very lucky that I won this prize,” he said when he presented his winning ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines.
Ortega, 37, has lived in Westchester for five years. He was at home when he played his Bingo ticket and discovered his win. He plans to share the windfall with his family and invest.
An occasional lottery player, Ortega said he buys two or three instant tickets each week. His largest win prior to this was $100. He bought his $200,000 winning Bingo ticket at 7-Eleven, 6440 W. Diversey Ave., in Chicago. 7-Eleven received a $2,000 bonus, one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. Bingo is a $5 instant ticket featuring top prizes of $200,000.
