Hampshire resident Kathy Proffitt was at the store buying a newspaper when she saw the 100X The Money ticket and had a feeling she should buy one. “I occasionally get a Bingo or Crossword ticket but something told me to try this game. I can’t believe I won $100,000!” she said when she presented her winning ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Rockford.
Proffitt and her husband have lived in Hampshire for 30 years. They have two sons and one grandchild. “I just became a grandma and I was thinking about how nice it would be to give my son some money to help with the baby.” She plans to share the windfall with her sons, make some home improvements and take a vacation.
The winning ticket was purchased at Spee-D-Mart, 990 S. State St., in Hampshire. The retailer received a bonus of $1,000, one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. 100X The Money is a $20 instant ticket with a top prize of $4,000,000. Of the four top prizes available, three have not yet been claimed. For more information, please visit illinoislottery.com.
