When is a losing ticket actually a winning ticket? Just ask Bill Gray of Spotsylvania. He played the Virginia Lottery’s Corvette Cash Scratcher game and his ticket was not a winner. So he entered it in the Corvette Cash Second Chance Sweepstakes. His ticket was drawn from more than 139,000 entries to win the top prize: a brand-new 2009 Corvette® Convertible.
On September 29, Mr. Gray received the keys to his new ’Vette from Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto. The presentation took place at Radley Chevrolet in Fredericksburg.
“I’ve wanted one forever!” Mr. Gray said. He said he has won prize packs in Virginia Lottery second chance drawings before, but never the top prize. He bought the ticket at Foodway Supermarket, located at 2868 Stonewall Jackson Highway in Bentonville.
The Corvette® Cash Scratcher game features cash prizes up to $100,000 – and a total of nine lucky winners receive the keys to a brand-new 2009 Corvette®. Six of those winners are from scratch tickets, two from non-winning tickets drawn in second chance drawings, and a ninth ’Vette was awarded during the September 19 Virginia Tech – Nebraska football game at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.
Those second chance drawings also included 1,410 exciting Corvette® merchandise prize packs, each including a Corvette® leather jacket, cap, sunglasses, duffel bag and key chain.
The odds of scratching to win a Corvette® or one of three $100,000 cash prizes are 1 in 462,400. The odds of winning any prize in the Corvette® Cash game are 1 in 4.44.
