MOUNDRIDGE PLAYER WINS $10,000 ON $1 SCRATCH TICKET

TOPEKA, KAN. – William Brouwer says it was the potential of hitting a $10,000 top prize that prompted him to purchase a handful of $1 Blackjack instant scratch tickets.
“I bought five of the Blackjack tickets, because I thought $10,000 was a pretty great prize for a $1 ticket,” said the 49-year-old Moundridge resident.
Even though Brouwer was hoping for a $10,000 win, it was still a tremendous surprise when he actually scratched off a top prize on the third ticket he played.
“You have to beat the Dealer’s Hand,” explained the winner. “The Dealer had a Nine and a Queen. I had a Queen and a Jack. When I scratched off the prize below my hand, I couldn’t believe it said $10,000!”
Brouwer is employed at Agco in Hesston. He and his wife Nancy have three children. They plan to use their prize money to pay off bills and buy books for one of their children, who is starting college this fall.
The lucky Blackjack ticket was purchased at Food Mart 110, located at 100 South Christian in Moundridge.
