(Madison) —Christopher Bue of Afton spent $5 on Powerball and $5 on Power Play, the game’s prize multiplier feature.
He turned his ten bucks into $20,000.
One set of numbers Bue had on his quick pick ticket matched four regular numbers and the Powerball in the Wisconsin Lottery’s Wednesday, May 20th Powerball drawing to win $10,000. But because Bue also bought the Power Play prize multiplier feature, he saw his prize multiplied by the night’s multiplier number, which happened to be 2.
Just like that, $20,000.
Bue bought his $20,000 winning ticket in Beloit at Speedway, 1107 Liberty. For selling the ticket Speedway earns $400. Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets with prizes of $600 or more earn the equivalent of 2% of the prize, up to a maximum of $100,000.
Wednesday’s winning Powerball numbers 23, 30, 31, 35 and 42, with a Powerball of 06. The Power Play prize multiplier was 02.
